Echocardiogram Screening Process Continues

 

            Schneider Childrens Hospital has approved, signed and forwarded the agreement back to the Long Beach School District to continue echocardiogram screening for 8^th grade student athletes for the coming school year.  This program is sponsored by the Jason F. Gruen Research Foundation.  A new date can now be set for screening; probably early March 2010. 

            In the meantime, planning will begin with parent conference night in late September, then an outreach awareness campaign with Circulo and the MLK Center. 

            Last year 52 eighth graders were screened for HCM (Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy) with one Cardiac abnormality detected.

            Our hope is to bring awareness to more families this year.
